From October 21 to 22, 1999 by the invitation of the State Agency of Intellectual Property under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyzpatent) Bishkek have visited Mr. Richard Yung Director of International Technical Cooperation Department of the European Patent Office (EPO). At the meeting with Mr. Roman O. Omorov Kyrgyzpatent Director there were discussion concerning further cooperation between two offices on patent information provision, technical assistance by the EPO to Kyrgyzpatent, training of specialists in the field of industrial property protection and language courses. Mr. Yung informed on EPO Project concerning the linking to the unified patent offices information network ESPACENet of European Union member countries, linking to which in future is possible to Kyrgyzpatent as well, and regarding training courses for experts organized by the EPO.

For the purpose of familiarizing with the office operation Mr Yung have visited different departments and divisions. At the final meeting with Kyrgyzpatent Director he spoke well about Kyrgyzpatent specialists professional level and expressed his hope for further cooperation between the EPO and Kyrgyzpatent.
